Erin Downs

Erin has extensive clinical experience in cancer and is working towards completing her Master of Professional Studies in Research in the area of virtual care opportunities for people receiving treatment for advanced cancer within the gastrointestinal tract.  Over the last 6 years, she has undertaken a Clinical Nurse Consultant / Cancer Care Coordinator role coordinating care for patients with an upper or lower gastrointestinal tract cancer at Ipswich Hopsital, West Moreton Hospital & Health Service, Queensland. Prior to this her clinical experience was at the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital as a Nurse Unit Manager in the cancer outpatient department facilitating care for Heamatology, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Medical Oncology patients.  Preceding this Erin has experience in BMT and donor coordinating, and the care and management of inpatient Haematology and BMT’s.  Currently, Erin is undertaking an opportunity to work with the eviQ medical oncology team at the Cancer Institute NSW. 

The supervision team overseeing the research study presented are Dr Annette Bromdal - Senior Lecturer University of Southern Queensland and supervisor higher degree research students, Dr Snezana Stolic - Senior Lecturer University of Southern Queensland, Dr Marlien Varnfield - Principal Research Scientist and Group Leader (Digital Therapeutics and Care) at the Australian e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC), Health & Biosecurity, CSIRO, Australia (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation).
